Overview
This workshop will review the concepts, issues, practices and tools that support the role of the Champion.
Aim
The aim is for the participants to:
- Identify the process of change at local level
- Create a Champion’s Development Plan
- Identification of barriers
- Development of strategies for change
Workshop Format

- Women in Local Councils – making a Difference
- Setting out the programme aims – themes – reviewing opportunities and the role of the Champions
Making ‘Women in Local Councils’ work
An opportunity for Champions to review their organisation’s context and needs and how they champion change through the programme, including:
- Coping with the speed of change
- Leadership responsibility
- Taking responsibility
- Values, beliefs and power
- Inspiring others to change
- The role of communication
- Teamwork and its role in the change process
- Keeping the change sustainable
Champions Action Planning
Personal development for champions – development of skills and personal action plans – indication of support needs
