Celebrating Success
We are delighted to announce that the Local Government Staff Commission for NI was awarded the Business in the Community Workplace Diversity Award for the Women in Local Councils initiative.
When introducing our category the compare said:
“The judges had no difficulty in recognising a clear winner as they were impressed with the high level of society benefits and the potential for lasting impact that the initiative could demonstrate. There was substantial evidence of the positive effects of the initiative already filtering through to organisations and clear examples of how this effective model can and already has been transferred to promote diversity in relation to other under-represented groups.”
Naturally we are delighted and feel that it is justified recognition of the work that we and the partners have contributed since the launch of the initiative in 2006.
Jane Morrice, Chair, Women’s Development Steering Group said:
“The success of the Women in Local Councils Initiative was well-deserved, particularly for the staff team who presented our case to the judges and for those members who have been committed to this initiative for a very long time. As the current Chair, I know we can build on our award-winning success and go from strength to strength from here on”.
