Showcasing the “Women in local Councils – Making a Difference” Initiative
This Local Government initiative branded “Women in Local Councils – Making a Difference” was launched in January 2006 and has continued through 2007/08 under the successful guidance of a Local Government stakeholder steering group. Councils have now established a network of change champions and local steering groups, and developed gender action plans to underpin their commitment to addressing gender under-representation at both elected member and officer level.
This showcase Event is designed to utilise good practice related case-studies and to celebrate the success of this innovative approach to address a common change problem across the 26 district councils in Northern Ireland.
