"Women in Challenging Careers"

(Belfast)

Details
An event for girls in secondary education hosted by Belfast City Council, in conjunction with Business in the Community.

This event aimed to challenge some of the stereotyped perceptions about women in non-traditional work areas. The programme has been designed to encourage female students from Secondary and Grammar schools to consider a career in professions that are considered non-traditional for women.

The conference utilised female role-models drawn from a wide range of work areas from within Local Government. The role-models are allocated a group of female students from two schools. The role-models facilitate the group and work through a series of activities that focus on the challenges and opportunities related to non-traditional careers.

This event was held in partnership with the WINS project. For more details please visit the WINS webpage www.belfastcity.gov.uk/wins.asp
